Poplar Grove UMC Cemetery in Wilbur, IN

One of the cemeteries closest to me is in the little village of Wilbur, IN (Morgan County). The town isn't big enough for its own postal code, stop light, or school. It has a corner store, a couple of tiny churches, and this cemetery.

Stout is one of my family names, and I was excited to find some Stouts in the Poplar Grove churchyard. I know they aren't likely to be kin to me, as my family lineage is almost entirely traced through the South, but the graves date back far enough that I can't be positive of some distant relation.

Marker for a Stout family plot, though only Inas (below) has an extent headstone.

New Rabbit

I've just discovered the Association of Graveyard Rabbits, and I couldn't be happier! I have always had an interest in cemeteries, customs and rituals to honor the dead, and exploring my own family lore. I also happen to have a borderline-crazy love of rabbits, boasting two dwarf-sized bunnies as my pets.

I live in Indiana, but I am a transplant here. The graves of my ancestors are all in the southern part of the United States -- the Carolinas, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Of course, that won't stop me from exploring the interesting graveyards and lore here in southern Indiana! There are some amazing cemeteries within just a few miles of my home.

Oh ... and my name is Laurelei. Hi, there.
